What Are Some Common Cable Granulator Machine Malfunctions?
Jan 07, 2026
I. Mechanical Malfunctions
1. Worn or Broken Cutters
Symptoms: Incomplete crushing, excessive wire residue, and decreased sorting rate.
Causes: Cutters become dull or damaged after prolonged use; the distance between the moving and stationary cutters is too large.
Solution: Sharpen the cutters every 10 tons of wire processed. Replace them after repeated sharpening as the mesh becomes too narrow.
2. Damaged or Clogged Screen
Symptoms: Incomplete sorting; copper granules and plastic are mixed together.
Causes: Screen mesh is too large or damaged, causing metal and plastic to be screened out together.
Solution: Clean the screen regularly; inspect it every two weeks; replace damaged screens promptly.
3. Worn or Abnormal Noise in Bearings
Symptoms: Unstable machine operation, severe vibration, and a metallic friction sound.
Causes: Bearing wear after prolonged operation, resulting in increased clearance.
Solution: Lubricate the bearings with grease every two weeks, using different types of lubricating oil for summer and winter.
II. Electrical Faults
1. Short Circuit or Open Circuit
Symptoms: Motor does not work, instrument panel does not display.
Causes: Long-term vibration, wear, moisture, or damage from small animals to the wires.
Solution: Check for damaged insulation, loose connections, and replace aging wires promptly.
2. Damaged Electrical Components
Symptoms: Generator, starter, sensors, etc., malfunction.
Causes: Affected by high temperature and humidity, or inherent quality issues.
Solution: Regularly inspect electrical components and replace damaged ones promptly.
III. Operational Faults
1. Machine Jam
Symptoms: Machine suddenly stops running and cannot continue operating.
Causes: Uneven or excessive feeding, loose belt connecting the motor and pulley.
Solution: Strictly control the feeding speed; a feeding frequency of no less than 3 times per minute is generally recommended. Check the belt for looseness and tighten it promptly.
2. Incomplete airflow separation
Symptoms: Copper granules are mixed with plastic, resulting in a decreased separation rate.
Causes: Uneven feeding and unstable operation of the airflow screen.
Solution: Maintain uniform feeding; check the airflow screen for damage or dust blockage at the bottom.
